OUR APPROACH: It is our belief that five critical elements must be addressed for a public project to succeed: engineering, planning, environmental, funding and public involvement. All five must work together to accomplish a holistic and usable project.

The Langdon Group approach to public participation is to engage the public and agencies through deliberative democracy in a manner that is value-based, objective driven, and problem-solving oriented. We believe that by engaging the public as early as possible we can develop a partnership and project support. By working with the public in a continuous and meaningful way we are able to reduce uncertainty, understand the interests of stakeholders and develop project advocates.

Our professionally-trained staff design and implement facilitation, public involvement, and media relations plans for a variety of transportation engineering and urban planning projects.

WHAT WE BRING TO OUR PROJECTS

Experience.
We have the experience and resources needed to help create effective and productive dialogue, whether in a public meeting, workshop, or planning session. All of our staff members have advanced degrees and/or training in public processes.

Relationships.
Through our project work, we have developed strong relationships with local agencies, cities and key special interest groups. We work well with others and believe in making the process as enjoyable as possible for everyone involved.

Strength in Numbers.
The Langdon Group has public involvement experts in Boise and Salt Lake City offices. We are able to respond immediately to stakeholder and agency needs.

More than just an Open House.
Our team brings a systemic approach to public involvement. We can mediate a conflict, manage public relations and do everything in between.

Media Relations.
Our award-winning staff members include former print and broadcast journalists who have been honored for their press releases, media campaigns and news writing. We know how to properly engage the local media and direct successful media campaigns.

NEPA Experience.
The Langdon Group follows National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) guidelines in virtually all of our public involvement processes. By following the NEPA "best practices" from the beginning, we avoid duplicating work and time if the status of a project changes.

Technology.
The Langdon Group has in-house capabilities to design and lay out newsletters, project displays, custom interactive web sites, etc.

Partnering.
We begin each project with a partnering process to identify needs, concerns, issues, schedule, key decisions, deliverables, accountability, stakeholder involvement, potential conflict, etc. This helps to identify solutions and ensures effective involvement for the life of the project.
