West Davis Corridor Environmental Impact Study| Davis and Weber Counties, Utah
OVERVIEW

The Langdon Group (TLG) currently leads public involvement for the West Davis Corridor EIS, the largest transportation environmental study currently underway in Utah. The study began in 2010 when the team commenced analyzing potential transportation solutions through Davis and Weber Counties. This EIS has significant history tied to past environmental studies that were surrounded by high conflict and required consensus-building among a wide cross-section of stakeholders. TLG was selected to lead this public involvement effort because they not only understand the intricacies of UDOT’s process, but they also bring a wealth of experience in assessing and managing conflict and in using collaborative processes among those with diverging interests.

TLG initiated an aggressive public involvement campaign, which has included one-on-one stakeholder interviews with local governments, meetings with special interest groups and agency leaders to gauge public perceptions and door-to-door grassroots outreach. TLG has held several public scoping meetings and workshop style open-houses attended by nearly 4,000 people. Throughout the EIS, TLG has gathered over 6,500 comments via phone, email, website and public open houses. All of this has been done in accordance with outreach requirements under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

TLG continues to coordinate with local governments, special interest groups and agency leaders. TLG has successfully maintained consistent team availability via phone, email and in-person visits since the release of the draft EIS.
