Modernization of Paterson River Intake Pump Station
The Columbia Water & Power District desired to modernize their existing Paterson River Intake Pump Station electrical distribution, pump motor controllers, and feeders. J-U-B’s Electrical Engineering Group (EEG) provided electrical and control systems engineering design and construction management for the District’s East Pump Station VFC Addition project.
Scope of Work and System Enhancements
The project consisted of:

Replacing four 1,500HP and two 250HP existing 2,400V FVNR starters with new Benshaw solid state soft starters

Installing a new 1,000HP, 2,400V Toshiba variable frequency controller and associated pump feeder raceways and conductors

Utility transformer secondary bus revisions

New power factor correction capacitors

New low voltage electrical distribution and lighting systems

New pump feeder distribution raceway system

New cable tray system

Integration of the existing pump control/SCADA system
