The Langdon Group (TLG) led stakeholder engagement activities through the alignment development, design and construction of the East-West Water Line, a large diameter water conveyance line running six-miles through Millcreek and Salt Lake City. TLG worked with key stakeholders and the project team to facilitate stakeholder meetings to gather information and refine the waterline route selection while identifying issues and information unattainable from the previous data analysis. Our experience in interest-based negotiation supported the property and easement acquisition needed to accommodate the waterline with our team working closely with SLCDPU’s project team and property manager.
In 2019, TLG began the public engagement effort to inform the large population in the project area of the final alignment. TLG designed a strategic outreach strategy using various tactics to reach the diverse population with a focus on directing the public to online resources and a succinct project information video. Broad-scale outreach efforts were bolstered with grassroot outreach, including presentations to community organizations, resident and business coordination ahead of construction, and a responsive team addressing public concerns and questions.
