Project Overview:
The Ten Mile Road project included the removal and reconstruction of the overpass, full rebuild of Ten Mile Road from Franklin to Overland, realignment of Tasa Drive, and concrete paving of I‑84. Five reinforced concrete structures were constructed, including three bridges, one box culvert, and one retaining wall. The Ten Mile Overpass is a post‑tensioned Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) bridge. Curb, gutter, and sidewalk were placed throughout the project. J-U-B provided inspection support, materials sampling and testing, stormwater inspection, and construction administration services.
Challenges:
One of the biggest challenges on this project was to have the fourth lane on I-84 open as soon as possible to help alleviate traffic on I-84.
How We Addressed the Issues:
J-U-B worked with ITD and the contractor to help accelerate the roadway construction and open the fourth lanes early.
Results:
The project was completed early and under budget. It resulted in a new interchange for the residents of Meridian, Ada, and Canyon County, as well as two other bridges and a full widening and rebuild of Ten Mile Road.
Benefits:
The increased access also helped alleviate traffic on the nearby interchanges and opened up future development options in the immediate area.
