Regional Transportation Plan Update – Mountainland Association of Governments

The Langdon Group (TLG) developed the public involvement goals, strategies and processes for the 2050 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) for the Metropolitan Planning Organization – Mountainland Association of Government (MAG) in Utah County. TLG worked with MAG and their partners, the Utah Department of Transporation (UDOT), Utah Transit Authority (UTA), and the 26 municipalities in Utah County on the RTP update that occurs every four years.

In 2018 and 2022, TLG designed and implemented the engagement strategy with the goal to engage in meaningful dialogue with a diverse cross-section of the community to educate, identify demands, priorities, needs, interests, and potential solutions. We conducted a thorough review and analysis of existing data, interviewed stakeholders, and targeted key individuals to engage in area workshops throughout Utah County.

Our team designed and facilitated a series of small area meetings with City and County representatives to identify concerns related to long-range transportation planning in Utah County. The team educated, engaged, and gathered input by translating complex data into well-designed graphics, animated video, maps, and questions. TLG and MAG analyzed and evaluated the data and presented information through a second round of workshops to check the findings, assumptions, and direction. The engagement, feedback, and data provided MAG valuable information to make informed decisions and deliver an RTP that is feasible, sustainable and supported.

As part of the RTP update process in 2022, TLG led the development of a new webpage highlighting the planning process, proposed regional transportation projects, Utah County’s growth challenge, and the goals 2023 RTP.
