Overview
The Pershing County Water Conservation District (PCWCD) replaced the existing failed Rodgers Dam with a new structure. Rodgers Dam is located on the Humboldt River between Rodgers Road and Interstate 80 approximately 1.5 miles northeast of Lovelock, Nevada in Pershing County.
Project Management and Construction Process
J-U-B/DEC administered the bidding and contract process, and construction was completed on time and within the budget. J-U-B/DEC provided on-site construction management, observations and analysis, and prepared a Construction Observation Report, completing the Operations and Maintenance Manual. Inspection services included foundation excavations, pile installation, concrete placement and testing, steel gate placement, and management of payment requests by subcontractors.
Construction Details
Construction included the placement of 1,700 cubic yards of concrete, supported on 250 timber piles, installation of 500+ feet of sheet piling, field soil and concrete testing. It included new large radial gates and a slide gate.
Additional Information
J-U-B fully redesigned and managed the construction for this major dam on the Humboldt River. The primary spillway/drop structure includes four automated radial gates. The project included various complex design techniques, as construction on bedrock was not feasible for this sandy foundation structure. The design included sheet pile walls, hundreds of piles, and an articulating block emergency spillway, as well as full SCADA automation.
