The Provo Orem Transportation Improvement Project (TRIP)/Utah Valley Express (UVX) was a road, transit, bicycle and pedestrian improvement project designed to meet growing transportation needs in Orem and Provo and included the first major Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in the state of Utah. The Langdon Group (TLG) was selected to provide public involvement services for this $190M CMGC construction project.
Along with implementing a robust grassroots outreach approach to proactively inform residents and businesses along a 10.5 mile project corridor, the TLG team also took an innovative approach to reach the large Orem and Provo community and utilized digital communication and social media. The Provo Orem TRIP Facebook page was created to educate the public on project vision, provide construction updates (including regular “Behind the Barrel” video updates), and promote local businesses. At project completion, the Facebook page had nearly 4,000 followers, an average monthly impression engagement of 175,000, and an average monthly post reach of 120,000.
In November 2018, POTRIP was given the UDOT Shared Vision Award for the collaborative and partnering efforts between the multiple agencies on the project.
