The Walker Basin Conservancy leads one of the most ambitious environmental projects in North America: saving Walker Lake and restoring the Walker River. The Conservancy works with farmers and ranchers to increase the flows of the Walker River and restore a fishery at Walker Lake.
A key part to the development of the Walker River Basin Watershed Management Plan is the Situation Assessment, TLG was selected to lead, consisting of stakeholder outreach and interviews to capture people’s opinions, perceptions, and beliefs related to water quality, quantity, and associated wildlife habitat in the Walker River Basin. A primary objective of the assessment is to understand what stakeholders view to be the most pressing issues in the Basin related to water and possible steps to address them.
