Wildfire Risk Reduction Timber Harvest Collaboration – California Tahoe Conservancy

Significant wildfire events and its associated risks across the central Sierra region of California and Nevada have increased the need to harvest timber and work towards creating a more resilient forest landscape. The Langdon Group (TLG) contracted with the California Tahoe Conservancy to facilitate a collaborative process including five national forests, three California state agencies, two non-government partners, the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California, private sawmill industry, and the USFS Washington Office to build understanding, share perspectives, and explore opportunities that meet multiple objectives. The result was a framework and timeline to achieve shared goals and the development of agreements with industry and the USFS.
