Apron Rehabilitation Overview
The West General Aviation Apron at Yakima Airport underwent a much-needed rehabilitation due to severely deteriorated asphalt. The project included replacing the asphalt, updating tie-downs to meet current FAA standards, and incorporating paving fabric to reduce reflective cracking.
Minimizing Operational Disruptions
Phasing for this project was carefully planned, as airport tenants were hesitant to operate near the closed parallel Taxiway A. To address this, J-U-B Engineers designed the project to keep all construction on the non-movement side of the flight line, ensuring uninterrupted use of the parallel taxiway.
Successful Outcome for Airport and Tenants
The result was a win-win: Yakima Airport received critical infrastructure upgrades, and tenants were able to continue their operations without disruption during construction.
