Conflict Resolution and Collaboration Training | Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders
OVERVIEW

The program was developed by the Obama Administration in 2014 as the flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) that empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking. As part of the mentorship program, TLG taught a course on conflict and collaboration that focused on the use of collaboration models, situational assessments, negotiating conflicts and employing appropriate tools and techniques.

In 2019, the Fellowship provided 700 outstanding young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to hone their skills at a U.S. college or university with support for professional development after they return home. Boise State University was selected as a host site for a selection of the fellows. The Fellows, who are between the ages of 25 and 35, have established records of accomplishment in promoting innovation and positive impact in their organizations, institutions, communities, and countries.

As part of the mentorship program, TLG taught a course on conflict and collaboration that focused on the use of collaboration models, situational assessments, negotiating conflicts and employing appropriate tools and techniques. The fellows shared their stories and together developed potential solutions to resolving conflict in their careers.
